Yesterday, over a dinner of fried chicken 'n biscuits from Bojangles', Matt turned to me and flatly said, "So, you don't get to go back to school in the fall."  Shocked by this realization, I was unable even to finish pulling the lean meat from the skin, and so slurped down the greasy morsel, flesh and all, with no expression on my face.  A sourness shored up in my stomach and manifested itself as a tear in my eye and a twitch in the corner of my mouth (due partly from the gristly chicken I had not intened to swallow, and the realization that academia is not necessarily a perennial theme in my life).  Gee. . . Thanks for reminding me, Love.

This year, I will be my own professor.  I am not accredited.  I do not have tenure.  But I do have "Alpha:  Teach yourself Latin in 24 Hours".  That's a little like a PhD in Classical Languages, right?

Today I took three naps.

Prior to all that, I attended Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.  Large parts of the liturgy were in Latin and it was outstanding.  I'm even beginning to remember the words, though not all of them... mea culpa.  Father Parkerson stood at the back of the church to speak with Matt and me as we left and apologize again for missing a meeting with us on wednesday; he held a ziplock baggie of tomatoes.  As we parted ways, Matt said, "That's a nice bag of produce there, keep it up!"  Fr. Parkerson snickered.  He's a multi-talented man, who proudly displays his kindergarden diploma in his office.

Today I learned this:
Wake Forest University = Demon Deacons

It made me wonder this:
How is an alumnus to embrace this immage?  How does one hold this near to the heart like     Handsome Dan or Brutus Buckeye?

But I realized this:
If I were to ever oppose a Wake Forest Demon Deacon, I'd be scared.  He's a                     deacon...but wait...he's a demon too!?

This girl is employed.  She will be a night clerk in the hospital emergency department.  Her life will be purpetually ER-esque.
In jubilation, Matt bought me a pack of Guiness; I made peirogies; and we watched Seinfeld.
Because of being caught up in all the excitement, I stayed up all the way until 9:30, then was out like a light.

This is dedicated to the one I love.

Happy Birthday Tiffany Wyant!
I miss you something fierce and wish I could be with you on this day of days. SS Peter and Paul are a couple of great guys to have praying for you today.
But in all seriousness; I'll always be the Vedder to your Cornell.
